Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 136- Fall Season Finale!

I am still trying to recover from the FULL episode we had for our fall season finale! It was full of competition… full of excitement… full of prizes… and full of FUN! You know when you do that thing you love so much and afterwards you feel exhausted? That was how I felt after this week’s episode. Thanks to ALL of you for tuning in and allowing me to continue to do what I love!

This week we paid tribute to our teams and took a stroll down memory lane:

  • We started off with a silly Round 1, where I asked you to fill in the blanks to some Thanksgiving cards in a round called “Blank You Very Much”

  • Round 2 was a musical montage of songs with titles that contained words that you could find in the team names of our Fall Season Trivia League Teams! 🐯♨➕

  • We couldn’t leave out of faithful friend Joe B who tunes in every week, so Round 3 paid honor to him and 10 other famous Joes

  • During Round 4, we talked about “What’s Next” in a sequence-themed round… where we also talked about what is next with TTWM!

  • And finally in Round 5, we recapped the round themes of the first 10 weeks of the season with a question that could’ve been including in each of the week’s episodes.

Thank you for making the finale (and the entire season) so fun to write and create for you!

Our weekly high scorers were The Brochuters + 1 who scored 96 points during our finale! Amazing job! 🏆 The Crafty Tiger Bitches were hot on their heels with 92 in second place. 🥈 And the last spot on the weekly podium went to Three Halves of a Whole Idiot who scored 88 to earn the bronze! 🥉 (Full weekly scoreboard is at the bottom of this blog post)

I’d like to take this moment to stop and give Alex some high praise for all he does every week, but especially this week. Not only did he have to triple-check the scores for accuracy during the show, but he also then had to calculate the final season scores. He’s amazing and I truly cannot do this show without him. 💜

Before we announced our season winners, we did our wheel spins for the end-of-the-season prizes. Congrats to our winners!

  • Making Good Answers won the first wheel spin and chose a set of whiskey glasses etched with the TTWM logo!

  • The Uneducated won next and chose a set of stemless wine glasses, also with the TTWM logo.

  • Crafty Tiger Bitches were next and won the TTWM Magic Mugs that are color-changing! Pour hot liquid inside and the TTWM logo appears!

  • The Brochuters + 1 selected some super fun board game themed jigsaw puzzles!

  • and finally This Is How We Know We’re Petty Petti Pette! were delighted to win the last wheel spin and get the leftover prize, which was the one they would have picked anyways: TTWM holiday ornaments!

If you didn’t win a prize, but are interested in purchasing any of the TTWM merch items, they are available for sale at: www.heresyourhost.com/shop! A big shout out to Jean of JeanBean Studio (and the Crafty Tiger Bitches) for using her crafty skills to create our merch items! She is amazing and it is a pleasure to collaborate with her. By purchasing an item you are supporting two small businesses who love what they do! Also, we have decided that 10% of all purchases through Monday, December 12 will go towards our Family-to-Family fundraising show on December 13! This program connects with with families to adopt throughout the year and provide food and essentials.

Oh! And all the items above can be customized if you’d like your team name printed/etched on it!

We spun the wheel for an additional $25 donation prize, and the wheel landed on TTWM mainstays, Jeremy Bearimy! Thank you so much Chuck, Lori, Shannon, Seamus, Delia and Dave for your faithful support of TTWM and for this AMAZING collage photo of Janets from The Good Place. It gave me the biggest giggle!

Jeremy Bearimy’s prize is going to Friends of Willow, a rabbit rescue in Portland, ME! 🐰🐇

I want to honor ALL the teams who have participated in the Fall Season Trivia League by sharing their photos and the variety of amazing organizations that they are passionate about!

Thank you Troy, Jen, Aaron, Mark, Chris and Robert for joining us all season!

The organization they chose was the Clean Air Task Force.

Fun fact… this Fall Season League may not have even happened if it wasn’t for team Central Adams! It was through a discussion with Mike that I first shared the idea and he encouraged me to run with it. Thanks Mike! and the other awesome members of your team: Lillie, Zach, Brian, Joe, Lauren, and Sean.

Central Adams chose Gigi’s Playhouse Chicago as the organization they wanted to support.

Next up are the lovely humans on team Making Good Answers. They are small business owners from all over the country and have been so supportive of me this past year. Thank you!

Faye, Frieda, Lauren, Shannon, Ali, Kim, Natalie, and Stacey also chose to support The Trevor Project.

Trivia runs in the family with this team: Mel and Friends! Let’s give it up for Melanie, Madalyn, Jacob, Max and Mike.

They also chose to support The Trevor Project.

Here we have Shannon & Willie (and Velma!) of team Velma’s Glasses… tuning in from Arkansas! Thank you!

The organization they chose was Foundation Fighting Blindness.

This is Adrianne… holding it down on her team of one: Mommie Beerest! Thanks for being a lovely human and supporter of TTWM!

Adrianne’s organization of choice was Transfigure Print Co.

I’d like to also shout out team We’re Just Guessing (Sam, Marianne and Rebecca) who had perfect attendance throughout the season! The organization they chose to support was Toys for Tots.

Seeing all of those wonderful charities and organizations made me feel so good. I am waiting to make the official donations until Giving Tuesday because I know some organizations will be doing matching for that special day of giving. I am thankful for the opportunity to give $275 in prize money to these awesome organizations. 💜

If you haven’t had a chance to do so yet, I would love your feedback on the “season format”. This was our first attempt at something like this, and your feedback will help us decide what to do moving forward. I have already read some very helpful and constructive comments from folks, so if you haven’t shared your opinion yet, please do so by going to: bit.ly/ttwmfall22feedback.

On November 29, we have a special episode of TTWM: Shop Smart Trivia Night! As a small business owner, I wanted to shout out some of my favorite small businesses, and so I have created round themes connected to their businesses for some trivia fun. Everyone who attends is a winner because you have the opportunity to win some special prizes from these businesses, and you’ll get some special TTWM exclusive coupon codes that you can use to support these businesses with your holiday shopping!

WOW. That was quite the blog and quite the finale. Thank you to everyone who participated! I especially want to thank those who tuned in regularly and have made TTWM a part or your weekly ritual. I have always said “as long as people keep showing up, I will keep hosting”… and we are going 136 weeks strong. Let’s keep it going into 2023 and beyond!

💜 Matt
