Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 171

“On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was".

“It’s October 3rd.”

😍

Happy Mean Girls Day, everyone! And happy 171st episode of Tuesday Trivia with Matt!

It was week FOUR of the Fall League, and I was thankful to have fourteen teams participate, including two new teams. Welcome to the League Mommie Beerest and the Petty Caribbean Queens!

On last week’s post-game survey, someone shared this statement: “Fun fact I learned today: there is a disc golf course on Antarctica”. Well that was I needed to be inspired to do an entire round about Antarctica. It will probably be the one and only time we’ll do a round solely about Antarctica. 🥶😂🥶😂

We also had a special guest on this week's episode! Michelle, a longtime TTWM player, joined us for a bit to promo her new podcast called “Werkplace Comedy”. Three episodes are out so far, with a scheduled 10 episodes for this first season (released weekly). The podcast covers the weird, wacky, and sometimes scandalous stories about things that happen on the daily grind. Michelle, along with her co-host Sam, also discuss funny job postings and provide some personal advice for interviewing and job searching. It is quite fun! Support our fellow TTWM player and give their podcast a listen, a like, a review, a follow… or all of the above!

After a few special rounds themed around the “werkplace”, our fourth round was in honor of Mean Girls Day and was all about High School Heartthrobs. This is the round which had the winning response for the week FOUR winner of “The Alex Award”. It went to a team that was SO close to a correct answer. I was looking for the answer “Sean Patrick Thomas” who played Derek in the movie Save the Last Dance. This team had the “Sean”, … they even had a three part name… but instead guessed “Sean Michael Williams”. Valiant effort! I even looked up Sean Michael Williams because it sounded so legit, and he is an aspiring actor, so it wasn’t too far off. For being close but not quite close enough, this week’s Alex Award winners are This Is How We Know It’s Tuesday! 🤣

I would like to give my own award for favorite funny answer this week, as I came across one that made me chuckle as I was confirming scores. During our music round, with songs that had occupations in the title, the correct answer was “Hey Mr. DJ” by Zhane, and Three Halves of a Whole Idiot guessed “I’m In Love With an Engineer” by TLC. You get a gold star for that hilarious guess! ⭐

Let’s get into the scores and results for the week. I did make a two small changes to Alex’s scores this week that gave two teams one extra point each. The ranking for the week remains unchanged.

Our Top FOUR teams of week FOUR are:

🥇 The Crafty Tiger Bitches rise to the top just missing four points out of a possible 120! Incredible!

🥈 The Re-Trivia-ers were just one point behind the CTB’s with 115. A photo finish!

🥉 Threat Level Midday had their highest score of the season so far, and make their first appearance on the podium!

🏅 Not far behind, and with one of the only perfect scores in the Antarctica round, fourth place went to High School Musical, The Musical, The Series, The Team Name! Congratulations!

Our season leaders up to this point, Just Neighbors, couldn’t make this week’s show so it was inevitable that there would be a new leader atop the Fall League Leaderboard… and it is CLOSE. By just two points (essentially one question!) our new season leaders are The Crafty Tiger Bitches with 432 points! Congratulations! But another team that definitely has their head in the game is High School Musical, The Musical, The Series, The Team Name with 430. Currently in 3rd place we have Jeremy Bearimy with 423. Speaking of Jeremy Bearimy, luck has been on their side with the wheel spins lately! They won this week’s random wheel spin, earning them their sixth additional prize entry for our season finale! ☸️

Do YOU want an extra spot on the season finale prize wheel? And want a way to earn one without having to hope the wheel lands on you? You’ve got the power this week! It’s quite easy. I just learned how to enable a comments section on my weekly blog posts, and I encourage you all to engage with comments and discussion. I’d love to get some healthy, competitive smack-talk going! Ha!

To prove that you’ve read this blog, add a comment below and be sure to include your team name. (It may ask you for an email address or website URL, but those fields aren’t required.) All teams who comment before the start of the next show (Episode 172) will earn an extra prize entry! Multiple team members can leave comments, but only one prize entry can be earned per team. Thanks for reading these posts and being a part of the Fall League!

With TWENTY teams now in the running for Fall League prizes, I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season goes. Join us, Tuesdays on Zoom at bit.ly/ttwmzoom23!

💜Matt
