Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 172

Animal Prints? For Fall? Groundbreaking.

Happy WEEK FIVE of the TTWM Fall Trivia League, everyone! This week we had 14 teams competing, and I thank all of you for joining us for what proved to be a pretty challenging game. Between the matching of animal prints in round one and the board game pieces in round five, we saw several single digit round scores, even by several of the teams in the top 10, which rarely happens.

We celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day in round three with “land” related questions, that began with a land acknowledgement of where I host the show from in Grand Rapids. I acknowledge and recognize that the land I host this show from is stolen and colonized land, and I honor the original people of this land including the Ottawa, the Chippewa also known as the Ojibwa, and the Potawatomi.

We also recognized World Mental Health Day with a round of supportive songs with titles that sound like something you might say to a friend or loved one in need, such as “Reach Out, I’ll Be There”. “Lean on Me”, and “Keep Your Head Up”. This round was inspired by my friend (and TTWM player) Faye who owns Queen Fayzel, her business where she makes thoughtful and witty greeting cards and paper goods. She released a new card that says “You Are Not Alone” (it’s the cute card in the header of this blog!). For World Mental Health Day, Faye donated 10% of all her sales to the National Alliance on Mental Health. ❤️ If you’d like to purchase this card, or others from Faye’s delightful collection, visit QueenFayzel.com!

I also did a special wheel spin this week to give away this “You Are Not Alone” card as well as a few other greeting cards from Queen Fayzel. Congratulations to Threat Level Midday for winning that wheel spin!

With the date being 10/10, I created a round called “10’s Across the Board” featuring board games that have pieces/cards that have the number 10 on them. This round had some very funny longshot guesses, and one of those guesses is the winner of “The Alex Award” this week! One of the games that players needed to identify was the game that includes these cards below. Do you know the answer?

The correct name of this game is “Dutch Blitz”, a card game where players race to play all of their cards in numerical ordered piles on the table. Alex’s favorite guess was “Amish Solitaire” that came from Kristin of team Allll Byyyy Myyyyself! Congrats Kristin!🤣

(Also, I’d like to shout out to two other teams with funny guesses for this same game: This Is How We Know It’s Tuesday with “Amish Paradise” and Quiz Pro Quo with “Kloppenhopper”. 🤣 Now I feel like we really need to create our own card game and call it Kloppenhopper!)

Now let’s get to the scores and results for the week. I did make a few small changes to Alex’s scores this week that gave some teams extra points (only more; no points were deducted from what was announced Tuesday). The ranking for the week remains unchanged.

Our Top FOUR teams of week FOUR are:

🥇 Just Neighbors returned this week and took the gold!

🥈 The Crafty Tiger Bitches were just one question behind. Well done!

🥉 Jeremy Bearimy are proving to be threats this season with a strong third place finish!

🏅 High School Musical, The Musical, The Series, The Team Name once again takes the fourth spot on our podium, just one point ahead of Three Halves of a Whole Idiot. Congrats to everyone!

☸️ This week’s random wheel spin winner, gaining an extra slot on the end of season prize wheel is Making Good Answers! WOO HOO!

Below is the full weekly scoreboard as well as the updated League Leaderboard. Crafty Tiger Bitches remain at the top, but there was some movement for teams in the middle of the leaderboard after this week. Where do you rank? Check below!

Last week I gave out an extra spot on the prize wheel for teams who left a comment on the blog, and you will see those extra prize entries reflected in the leaderboard. And guess what? I have another opportunity for you to win a prize entry this week! I will be sending out an email to my newsletter list on Monday, and if you reply to that email before the start of the next episode, I’ll add an extra prize entry for your team. Not on my email list yet? Add yourself by going to www.heresyourhost.com, scrolling to the bottom of the page and providing your email address in the fun Spice Girls themed box.

If you read this, I’d still love to have you comment below with something you loved about this week’s show! 😍

⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDER! ⚠️ Our next episode of Tuesday Trivia with Matt is actually MONDAY Trivia with Matt! Episode 173 will be this Monday, October 16. Looking forward to seeing you there. Join us on Zoom at bit.ly/ttwmzoom23!
