Tuesday Trivia with Matt - Episode 173
We kicked off the week with an exciting Monday show full of pasta, polka dots and pizzaz!
I want to start this blog entry by thanking the loyal players for continuing to support, even when I change the day of the week. I hold my breath a bit joining the Zoom when I switch up the date, hoping that there will be people there to play. It was fantastic to have FIFTEEN teams for this episode! Welcome for the first time to the Delta Nu It Alls and Hey Ho!
Let’s get some scoring deets out of the way. For the first time this season there was some swapping of spots on the leaderboard due to some scoring corrections:
First, Alex accidently scored the question about Braille incorrectly and gave everyone points who said Morse Code (which was the majority of the teams, and why Alex thought it was the correct answer! 😂). So you may have lost or gained two points depending on your team’s answer.
Also, the Dictionary Day round had some answers that were up for debate, and in most cases, if you reached out to me to justify your answer, I agreed with you and gave you points. This included all the teams that put “moderate” and “minimize” for the word “mitigate”. The letter count and word form were accurate, and the definition was close enough! I also opted to accept “monopolization” for “meddlesomeness” for the same reason. There were some of you who had really good guesses but were a letter off. And there were some of you who had some pretty bad guesses, but they were entertaining! 😂😂😂😂
Speaking of meddlesomeness… it brings us to this week’s winner of The Alex Award! And it is a first for the award: our first FOUR-WAY tie! That is because four teams happened to put the same fantastic answer. It occurred during the Dictionary Day round, and I asked you to provide the word for the definition: “the quality of advancing yourself or your ideas without invitation”. Four teams answered “mansplaining” which is JUST PERFECTION! It unfortunately wasn’t as many letters as meddlesomeness, or you totally would have gotten points. But at least you are now all entered to win the end-of-season-prize for The Alex Award! Congrats to Quiz Pro Quo, Just Neighbors, High School Musical The Musical The Series The Team Name, and Three Halves of a Whole Idiot for that witty word choice!
Once all of the point corrections were taken into consideration, here is the podium for Episode 173:
🥇 Just Neighbors and The Re-Trivia-ers tied for first with 116 points!
🥉 The Crafty Tiger Bitches were just one question behind with 114 points!
🏅 Quiz Pro Quo make it to the podium in fourth with 110 points, just edging out This Is How We Know It’s Tuesday by one point! Congrats to everyone!
