Episode 275 Recap- The Bicenterquasquigenary!
Well the bicenterquasquigenary episode (275th) was certainly a memorable one! 🤣
This week we celebrated back-to-back winners, sandwiches, flags, personality tests, and pipe organs!
I also decided that it was time to throw in a “gotcha question” to keep people honest…
… and its not lost on me that the week I decide to test if people are googling answers or not, is also the week that I seemed to not do the best job of googling the answers to my own questions! 🤣 So a few corrections:
During the personality tests round, we accepted both “9” and “12” for the number of types for Numerology Life Path numbers, as it was pointed out by several teams that in addition the the single digits 1-9, there are also the “master numbers” 11, 22, and 33.
During the back-to-back winners round, I had that the most recent back-to-back Stanley Cup winners were the Tampa Bay Lightning… but was also informed that another Florida team, the Florida Panthers won in 2024 and 2025… so we accepted both of those those answers. Who knew one of the warmest states had two of the best hockey teams? *not me*
Also, I totally messed up the answer to the first President to win back-to-back presidential elections, saying it was Grover Cleveland. He was the first president to win non-consecutive elections (not back-to-back), so the answer was actually George Washington. The OG! So points to any team who put George Washington, which was almost every team. Sorry George!
Thankfully, Alex had my back with almost all of these corrections after doing some googling of his own during the show, so the points you’ll see below on this week’s scoreboard aren’t changed much from what I announced live. Thanks for bearing with me, and I need to be better at reminding people that corrections are ALWAYS welcome, but maybe just after the game and not during as I can get a bit flustered.
As I mentioned at the start of the season, I wanted to add at least one “gotcha question” into a game this season in an effort to keep players honest. This was the week. It is impossible for me to regulate cheating during TTWM, so these questions are just a reminder that while it may be tempting and easy to just google the answer to something you don’t know… it really takes away from the spirit of trivia: to test what you and your teammates know.
And now we all know that there is not a real nation called San Marcos! 😊
I love that one team was so keen, that in the answer field for this question they put “cheating trap?”. Y’all are just too good and too smart.
Speaking of the flag round, that was where we had our winner of this week’s Alex Award! This round had teams guessing the shape and color of an element missing from nation flags… and for the flag of Egypt that was missing a golden bird, team Go Us answered “invisible Sphinx”. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Invisible as a color was just too hilarious,
Alex also gave an honorable mention to team 11th Place = First Place Twice who guessed “Eat It” by Weird Al Yankovic for one of the pipe organ covers.
