Episodes 319 & 320: The Start to Season FIVE!
I must start off this message with some sincere appreciation for everyone who has tuned in to Season Five of the Fall Trivia League (FTL)! In two weeks we have already had twenty-two teams join us, which is a tie for the most teams in any previous seasons! I’m super grateful that I get to live my dream job and host trivia for such a delightful online community of people from across the country. So thank you! 💜
Also, thank you for your patience with these season updates. 🙃 These weeks have been filled with many private events, so it has fallen down the to-do list. I honestly don’t even know how many of you will read this… so I’m going to keep it short and sweet.
Leaderboards
Below you will find the current leaderboard after two weeks of competition, as well as the two weekly scoreboard from episodes 319 & 320. As I always do during the FTL, I double check Alex’s live scoring to ensure that everyone gets the points they deserve. There were no corrections to Episode 319… but for Episode 320 there was a wonky formula situation that did impact scores just a bit. Some teams gained two points, some lost two points, and others stayed the same (which minimally adjusted the ranks/placements from what was announced live)… but what you see below is confirmed and correct.
Also, I added a new column next to the rank to show if your team moved up or down from the previous week, and how many placement slots you moved. It was giving me a Billboard music charts feel. 😄🎵 Let me know your thoughts on this! I don’t want it to discourage teams who fall, but also, I thought it would be an easy way track your teams progress from week to week.
You’ll see the last column of the overall leaderboard shows the prize entries that teams have earned so far. Five teams earned an extra entry for reading the email I sent out last week and adding the ⭐ emoji to the answer form as I instructed. Thanks for reading my emails!
“The Alex Award”
During the FTL, Alex gets to give a weekly award to his favorite wrong answer of the week. This could be something way off, something super close, or just something that gave him a chuckle while going through the scores.
For Episode 319, our Alex Award went to Three Halves of a Whole Idiot. During the all girl groups music round, they didn’t couldn’t come up with the correct answer “The Go-Go’s” so they answered “Just the Mamas”, like it was half of The Mamas & the Papas. Well done for making Alex giggle!
For Episode 320, Alex selected Peas N a Pa as the winner for their answer during the round with movies starting with a Silent Letter. They answered “Wromie & Michelle Make a Porno”… to which Alex said, and I quote, “that is wrong three times!”.
